Choosing an Embedded GUI:
A Comparative Analysis of UI Frameworks

December 12, 2024 | 1 pm EST

At ICS we use many different UI frameworks to implement applications with graphical user interfaces.

The selection of a suitable UI framework for a given project is a critical decision that will impact the development cost, time to market, performance, and reliability of your application. Each has its pros and cons and the choice for a given application depends on several factors.

This webinar will compare the key features of 14 of the major UI frameworks/toolkits, with an emphasis on those that run on multiple platforms, support native development, support using compiled languages, and are actively being maintained.

Attributes of the toolkits will include functionality provided, supported platforms, programming languages, licensing, support, performance, stability, and cybersecurity.

The scope will include frameworks suitable for running on hardware ranging from low-cost microcontrollers with touchscreens to high-performance application processors with multiple displays and IoT connectivity.

Considerations for safety-critical and regulated devices for industries such as automotive and medical will also be discussed, as well as the increasing importance of cybersecurity, AI, and machine learning.
